The long road to Norton’s new
Public Access Channel began early in the year 2000, during negotiations of the
City’s Franchise Agreement with Time Warner Cable. A $10,000.00
grant from Time Warner Cable was secured specifically for use in promoting cable
technology. In 2002, the City used this grant money by purchasing
and installing state of the art audio and video recording equipment in Council
Chambers of the Safety & Administration Building.
At this point of development, viewers are asked to remember that this ability is still in it's infant stages of development. All regular meetings of Council and Council Committee of the Whole meetings are recorded for broadcast on Norton’s Public Access Channel 15. We are constantly striving to improve and broaden our abilities to broadcast timely City news to our residents. Future plans are to expand the information that is available for Norton citizens.
Community Corner, shown on Channel 15, is a FREE SERVICE to community groups where they can advertise their contact and event information. Verifiable non-profit, civic or community group organizations may contact Ann @ 330-825-7815 x14 or by e-mailing annc@cityofnorton.org . Requests to air information must be made AT LEAST 30 to 45 days prior to the event!

FAQ's about Community Access Channel 15: |
I've watched Channel 15 in
the past and have had to turn my volume all the way up to be able to hear the
program!
This problem with the audio that is within our direct control has recently been fixed with the upgrading of
the sound system in Council Chambers. The volume has greatly
improved in Council Chambers and on our tapes.
Unfortunately, there is still a minimal decrease in volume when our tapes
air through the Time-Warner system that is not able to be improved upon much
more without equipment upgrades that could be very expensive. Citizens
that tune in to watch Council meetings are asked to please adjust their
volume, if needed.
Why do I keep seeing the same meeting(s) being run
multiple times a day?
Tapes are driven to and broadcast from the Time-Warner office in Canton, Ohio. At
this point of development, only one tape is allowed to be run in a 24-hour
period.
To accommodate viewers schedules,
the "tape of the day" is scheduled to be aired at the following times:
6:00am, 9:00am, 1:00pm, 4:00pm, 7:00pm and 11:00pm.
Regular broadcast changes in the schedule will occur around the
beginning of the month and the middle of the month.
A Norton Public Access Channel is a great
idea. Can I have something broadcast on Channel 15?
Current City
guidelines state that information must be from non-profit, civic or community
groups whose programs and services directly benefit Norton Residents.
All requests for broadcast will be thoroughly reviewed for appropriate content
prior to approval and airing. For further information and to
receive an "Air Time Request Application", stop by the City Administration
building, e-mail annc@cityofnorton.org
or call 330-825-7815 x14.
I
use a satellite dish in my home. Can I view Channel 15?
No. Unfortunately, Norton's Public Access Channel is
only available if you subscribe to Time-Warner Cable.
I used to enjoy watching
"Polka Time" on Channel 15 at 1:00 on Sunday. What happened to my
program?
There were quite a number of complaints about this Akron Time
Warner programming being lost to viewers when Norton took over being able to
air on Channel 15. We're happy to say that this show is locally
produced and that we have been able to add Norton to their distribution
list. "Polka Time" is now available to Norton residents again!
