Married to Lynn, they have three children, Amber, Tommy and Josh.  Amber graduated High School in 2007, Tommy is a sophomore at Bowling Green University and Josh is a senior at Archbishop Hoban.  Scott has been working for the Hygenic Corporation for the last 19 years working as the Manager of Scheduling, Inventory Control and Global Logistics.  He has been a resident of Norton for 13 years and has been involved in various activities throughout Norton.  Scott has served on Norton’s Planning Commission and has been a member of Norton City Council since 2004.

Married to Kim, they have a daughter attending Norton High School and a son attending Penn State.  Mike has been employed by the F. W. Albrecht Grocery Company (Acme) for 27 years.   
Currently, Mike is very active in his church and the community.  In addition, he is a former member of the Norton Fire Division, serving the City for 12 years in the capacity of Firefighter/Paramedic and
was elected to  serve on Norton Council in 2004.


Tom Jones

Married to Pat for 25 years, they have four grown children and two grandchildren.  Tom has lived in the city of Norton for 38 years and retired from the Akron Barberton Belt Railroad in 1994 after 35 years.  Tom has previously served three consecutive terms as Ward One Councilman.  After a four-year absence, he is now beginning a fourth term.  For years, Tom's hobby has been VW Beetles and antique and classic cars.


Dennis McGlone

Married to Terri, they have three children, Dennis Jr. attends Walsh University, Jessica and Matt attend Norton City Schools. Dennis is a Payroll Administrator/Computer Programmer for the Summit County Fiscal office for 30 years.  Dennis has been a residence of Norton for 25 years and has served on Norton Council since 2002.

 


Bill Mowery

Married to Mary, they have one child that has graduated from Norton High School. Bill has been employed by the F.W. Albrecht Grocery company for 34 years, and is currently working at the Norton Acme.
He is a Member-at-Large for the Summit County Chapter of MADD. Bill has served on the Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning, and has served on Norton Council since 2000.


Ken Braman

Married to Joann since 1958, they have two grown sons, both Norton High graduates.  Ken, a Marine Corps veteran, retired from B.F. Goodrich and Norton City Schools.  He has been very active in many community activities including Cub Scouts, Sports Boosters, Pee Wee Football and the Norton Community Fair.  Ken has resided in Norton for the past 43 years, and formerly served on the Norton Planning Commission for 7 years.

Married to Joe and having five children, Brenda has lived in Norton since 1990 and is active in the Community and Schools.  She served on Norton City Council 2002 - 2005 and was appointed on April 16, 2007 to Council-At-Large. She was then elected to retain the Council-At-Large seat at the November 6, 2007 General Election.  She has completed the Ohio Municipal League Leadership Academy.   Her goal is to do what is best for the City and Citizens of Norton.

Karla has worked for the City of Norton since 2001, first as Secretary to the Mayor and Administrative Officer, then as Clerk of  Council beginning December 9, 2002.  She is responsible to all seven members of Council.
As Clerk of Council, Karla is the keeper of all official records of Council. Karla is a Licensed Notary, an active member of the Ohio Municipal League, International Institute
  of Municipal Clerks, and the Summit County Clerks Association.  She has also earned her Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation, of which there are only 110 CMC's in the State of Ohio, and is working towards her MMC (Master Municipal Clerk)

Norton City Council is comprised of seven members, one elected from each of the four Wards of the City, with an additional three elected as At-Large members.  These Council members constitute the legislative body of the City; authorizing the appropriation of funding, construction of public improvements, and legislation required for the preservation of public peace, health, welfare, or safety of the citizens who reside in the City of Norton.  Council members are elected to serve four-year terms.

City Council meetings are designed primarily to act on legislation that has been researched and deliberated in Committee.  Public input best occurs at the Committee level.  Communications from the public are encouraged and will be granted five minutes to speak on matters now pending before Council or Committee.  There are instruction forms at the public podium in Council Chambers, which must be completed five minutes prior to the meeting start.

The Clerk of Council position, is a full-time appointed position and is responsible for carrying out the administrative functions of City Council.  These administrative functions include keeping and maintaining an accurate record of the proceedings of Council and of its Committees, retaining and preserving all laws and ordinances of the City as well as other duties that Council may require.

Pursuant to the Charter, Council meets in the Council Chambers in the Safety-Administration Building.  Meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, with the exception of those days which fall on a Federal or State holiday observed by the City,
in which case the Council shall meet on the following Tuesday* at the same time.  

Committee Work Sessions are held on the first and third Mondays of each month
, with the exception of those days which fall on a Federal or State holiday observed by the City,
in which case the Committee Work Session would be held on the following Tuesday* at the same time.
  

Special meetings may be called pursuant to the Charter.

Norton City Council has seven different work-session Committees:

Each Council member is required to serve as the Chair of one of these Committees, and must also serve on two other committees other than the one he/she chairs.
